Gaia Fiorinelli is Research Fellow (RTDA) in Criminal Law at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa).
She graduated from the University of Pisa in July 2018, with the dissertation «The ‘privatization’ of criminal protection between deflation, interpersonality and extrema ratio», supervisor Prof. Alberto Gargani. In December 2019, she obtained the Master’s Degree in Legal Sciences at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, defending the dissertation «The model of countering cybercrime. Evolution and prospects», supervisor Prof. Gaetana Morgante.
She obtained her Ph.D. in Law in 2021 at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies with a dissertation on «Technological Transformations and Paradigms of Imputation of Criminal Responsibility»(criminal law, law&technology), supervisor Prof. Gaetana Morgante.
Her main research interests include economic crimes, corporate criminal liability, the interaction between criminal sanctions and civil law remedies, cybercrime, (criminal) liability of ISPs, cyber-compliance and cybersecurity.
She participated in research projects, conferences and publications of national and international relevance.
In October 2021 she qualified to practice as a lawyer.
